The Puca Halloween Festival will be happening here in Slane this October and the grounds of Slane Castle are going to be transformed into a playground for the spirits of Halloween. Púca, Boann, The Morrigan, and Fear Dearg roam the woodlands, and spectacular illuminations and installations bring the landscape to life. During the festival why not join us at Slane Distillery for a specially created evening of Slane Irish Whiskey, storytelling, and folklore with Candlelit Tales!

This 1.5 hour experience Includes:
• A short background into the history of the Gothic Stable block at Slane Castle which is now home to Slane Irish Whiskey
• A fully tutored Slane Irish Whiskey Deconstructed Tasting ( this includes 4 whiskeys)
• A 45-minute storytelling session with Candlelit Tales in our Private Whiskey Lounge next to the Puca festival site
• 1 Slane Whiskey Puca Punch Cocktail per person
• Access to the Púca Festival Trail after the experience

During Púca on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 October, Slane Castle presents Feast of the Spirits, a unique chance to enjoy dinner in the glorious surroundings of the Castle Ballroom. It’s a celebration of the superb produce in the Boyne Valley region in a family style meal, with a special Samhain slant. From the welcome hot apple whiskey punch and canapes to the atmospheric storytelling and band, this will be an event to remember. Groups of up to five people can be accommodated and numbers at the Feast are strictly limited to just 50 fortunate participants. Ticket includes the Púca Illuminations, welcome drinks and canapés, story of the Samhain performance, feasting banquet served in King George IV Ballroom, followed by traditional music. Pre booking is essential.

Tailtiu's Tall Tales

Spirits of Meath Halloween Festival

According to legend, Samhain, the ancient Celtic Festival that we now call Halloween, originated here in Co. Meath in the Boyne Valley more than 2,000 years ago. Samhain was said to mark the harvest and a time of transition, with feasting and celebration as the long winter nights approached. To this day the Boyne Valley has remained the home of Halloween. This year in collaboration with the Púca Festival, the James Griffin Pub will be hosting our inaugural ‘Irish Púcan Oktoberfest ‘. This festival celebrates Beers from brewery’s in Ireland and around the world. There will be specials on Irish beers running throughout the week and pinnacling on the final night with a transformation of our seating arrangements and our waiting staff supported by our DJ and live music from 7pm. Much like the German Oktoberfest, our seating arrangements will be long tables and all beers will be served in the traditional Irish tankard glass in place of the German Stein.
